Weeden No 8

Thanks Morphy Auctions

The Weeden No. 8 has a brass boiler and firebox, with sight glass, on a metal base. This is a true beam engine with the cylinder driving the beam unlike most of the other Weeden beam engines where the beam is driven by a crankshaft. Introduced in 1893 and continued into 1910. Early models stood 8" high on a 4 3/4" X 5 3/4" base with a 1 7/8" flywheel, later models were 8 1/2" high on a 5 3/16" X 6 5/16" base with a larger 2 7/16" flywheel.
